Hard-to-find tribal piece from the Borana Peoples who are located in Eastern Africa. This attractive water container is made out of tightly woven jute fiber, composed of both the container and a tapered lid, and has an interior lined with black tree resin.
The Oromo peoples of East Africa are a semi-nomadic group and the Borana are a sub-group, found mostly in Kenya and Somalia. These water jugs are a crucial and central element for their survival.
This is a very unique mid-century work of ethnographic handicraft. It comes with a new custom acrylic ring making it perfect for display in a commercial or residential setting. With its neutral/rustic appearance, it would be at home in a Wabi-Sabi, Organic-Inspired or Coastal Modern setting.
