Burkina Faso Wedding Basket

This wedding basket was handcrafted in Burkina Faso. These double layered decorative baskets are strong, hold their shape and have a hard bottom made of fiber and leather. It is constructed with hard reed fiber and intricate weaving techniques. The red and black geometric design is woven, and leather and cowrie shells are used for accents. The baskets are traditionally used to hold gifts which are presented to a bride and groom during wedding ceremonies. 

This basket would complement a variety of interiors from Southwestern to Eclectic to Modern. In your home or office setting, this can be used decoratively on a deep shelf or on the floor of a room, or practically for bathroom towels, magazines or other items.
