Vintage Burkina Faso Wedding Basket with Natural Buff, Black and Red Coloration Measuring 17.5 Inches Diameter by 9.5 Inches Tall

This Wedding Basket was handcrafted in Burkina Faso. This example is a sturdy double-layered decorative basket constructed with hard reed fiber and intricate weaving techniques. The red and black geometric design is woven, and leather is used around the rim of the basket and to cover its base. It has held its shape and has a hard base made of fiber and leather. The baskets are traditionally used to hold gifts which are presented to a bride and groom during wedding ceremonies.
