Traditional hand-carved wood Ashanti fertility doll "Akua'ba" with a disc-shaped head, short projecting arms, ringed neck, breasts, and a protruding navel. These wooden effigies are from Ghana and are worn by pregnant women to ensure the arrival of children.
This piece has an amazing patina, comes with a new acrylic base and is in excellent vintage condition. It would be suitable to stand alone or be part of a larger collection with other West African wooden carvings. Display in a study or office on a bookshelf or side table in any décor.
