Hand-carved "Nommo" ancestor figure inspired by the ritual cultures of both the Dogon and Tellem Peoples. The figures are said to represent ancestors, who during worship, would raise their hands to the sky in a call for rain which is a very precious thing on the edge of the Sahara Desert. The figure is carved in a honey colored wood with arms raised, an arrowhead-shaped nose, a small mouth and beard, standing on a round base with geometric lines outlining the piece.
This piece is mounted on a black acrylic base, in good vintage condition and would be suitable to stand alone or be part of a larger collection. Perfect in a study or office on a bookshelf or side table in any décor. Create a collection - please see our other product listings.
