Vintage Wooden Ethiopian Tribal Headrest from Oromia Region

Headrests support the head by cradling it along the jawline, elevating it from the ground; thus, aligning the spine while protecting intricate hairstyles from dust or from being flattened. This reddish-brown headrest is carved from a single piece of wood. The object is composed of a conical base and a crescent-shaped platform. The rest area is smooth while the base that supports it is covered with intricate carved designs.

Condition: Very Good

Wear: Consistent with age and use – chip on one end of cradle.
