This tribal artifact is called a Konda or Ikakalaka Sword and it is from the Mongo People in the northwestern parts of Democratic Republic of Congo. Key characteristics include a wooden handle the shape of an hour glass, no guard, and a larger round pommel (base). The blade is made of iron/steel and has a straight double edge that was sharpened on each side. Also, it has a spatulated or crescent shaped tip.

This piece is unadorned when compared to other elaborate ceremonial examples. It is presented on a new acrylic base and would complement a variety of interiors from Traditional to Rustic or Organic Inspired and a variety of spaces from a great room to a study or office.

Note: Blade is sharp. Display and handle with caution.
