Antique Luba "Baluba" pipe featuring a carved wooden female spiritual medium. The female figure is kneeling on top of the furnace, has a torso decorated with characteristic scarifications along with hands placed under her breasts on both sides of her chest.
The pipe has a satin brown patina and being that it is comprised of a round gourd, it is mounted on an acrylic circular base inside a clear custom plexiglass box with an opaque white backside.
This used tribal pipe is a piece of art with great patina and some cracks from wear around the base of the gourd as noted in the pictures. It would present well as a free standing piece of art on a credenza or console table in a great room or entry. Perfect as a focal point in a variety of interior settings from Traditional, Tribal... to Eclectic or Boho.
