Full-sized ladders are functional elements for the Dogon allowing them to reach the elevated entrances to their homes and granaries. They are well-worn due to frequent daily use.
This miniature representation has sharper and more angular grooves since it was created as a divination tool assisting their ancestral spirits to climb onto the roof of the house where their alter was typically located.
It is presented on a black metal base, perfect in a study or office, on a bookshelf or a side table, and in any décor from Organic Modern, Wabi Sabi, or California Coastal. Create a collection - please see our other hand-carved product listings.
