Traditional iron oil lamp crafted by a blacksmith of forged iron in a non-figurative style with six oil cups and two hanging wick tools on each side. It has a central post with three cups at the bottom, two in the middle, and one at the top. Used by both the Dogon and Bambara peoples for illumination using the butter oil from the Karite trees which are abundant in the region.
Use it as a sculptural design object or a piece to hold votive candles. With its abstract design, aged and oxidized patina, and custom museum mount newly powder coated in flat black; it would make it a great addition to a variety of spaces from a console table in an entry to a great room or a hallway. This piece will complement interior settings from Wabi Sabi to Boho, or Eclectic to Modern.
