'Igorot’ can be roughly translated into ‘Mountain People.’ These people are ethnic highlanders from the Cordillera region on the island of Luzon. The weaver used an open hexagonal design to create this decorative basket. Construction is intricate as six-sided holes (star-shaped) are created by six elements of bamboo in an open checkerwork design. Due to the delicate open weave construction, this basket should be used for decorative purposes only displayed on a shelf or a wall.
