Black pottery Mexican folk-art cathedral. This vintage piece is unique, in great condition, and perfect for architectural antique collectors or those who enjoy religious or folk art. It has intricate detailing with 32+ window openings, 3 door openings, 2 steeples with metal and clay decorative spires, and a domed roof (with 4 windows) over the rear of the building (apse). The piece is hollow inside — no dividing walls between the interior chambers.
Handmade in the 1950s-1960s of natural matte monochrome black clay and would complement a variety of interiors with its neutral palette. At first it presents a solid black color, but in different lighting it has undertones of charcoal gray and dark brown. Well constructed, impactful and free standing. It would be perfect on a console table in a variety of interior settings from Southwestern, Spanish Colonial Revival... to California Casual or Coastal Modern Design.
