Ligao winnowing tray/shallow basket was used as an agricultural method for separating grain from chaff. Constructed of heavy split rattan in a one-over-two twill construction. The skin of the rattan is used on the inside of the tray to provide a smooth, hard surface. The rim is composed of one whole rattan. Excellent patina – collected in the Philippines during the 1960s, and acquired from a decorator’s personal collection. This basket would add interest to any décor whether on a table or displayed on a wall in a grouping in a variety of interior settings from Wabi Sabi, Organic Inspired to Coastal Modern Design.
