Thai 19th Century Carved Wood Temple Dragon with Blue, Teal and Gold Accents

Architectural element in the shape of a Naga head which had been located on the sides of a larger roof structure. This large, vertical antique piece of teak architectural salvage provided symbolic protection and features amazing handwork with delicate carving along with decorative reflective gold, blue and green metal plates extensively covering its chest and other areas. This piece displays a natural patina due to weather and age. The patina and metal fragments create an almost simmering quality especially in sunlight. 

An extremely rare find that would make for a stunning wall hanging in multiple environments either inside, outside under a covered patio, or in a residential or commercial setting. It will be a focal point in a variety of interiors that could include Industrial/Loft, Coastal, Japandi, Neutral/Organic or Zen.

Purchased in the 1970s on location in Thailand, this piece cannot be replicated as it is from the mid- to late- 19th century and was unique to the structure for which it was created. Perfect as a representation of authority, prosperity and good fortune as we enter 2024 - The Wood Dragon Year.
