Early Spanish Colonial figure/statue of the Virgin Mary from the Philippines. This 200-300 year old piece is carved of wood in the round, retaining gesso and some of the original pigmentation. Her head is turned to the left, locks of hair are falling over her back, and hands originally joined, overall reflecting the style of European baroque statues.
The piece has losses to the paint due to age, is free standing and perfect for a range of interior settings from Traditional, Spanish Colonial... to Southwestern or Religious-Inspired.
Place of Origin: Philippines
Date of Manufacture: Spanish Colonial, late 17th to early 18th Century
Condition: Excellent
Wear: Losses to paint on statue and right hand is missing. Consistent with age and use. Please refer to pictures.
