Early Spanish Colonial figure/statue of the Virgin Mary from the Philippines. This 100+ year old piece is carved of wood, pigmented and partly gilt. Her gaze is directed upwards, her eyes are made of glass, and her hands are in a joined position. She is fitted on a base which possibly represents a palm frond.
The piece is free standing and is perfect for a range of interior settings from Traditional, Spanish Colonial, Southwestern... to Eclectic or Religious-Inspired.
Place of Origin: Philippines
Date of Manufacture: Spanish Colonial, late-18th Century
Condition: Excellent
