Bjørn Wiinblad for llums Bolighus Decorative Papier Mâché Tray

A very rare papier mâché tray by one of Denmark's most famous designers, Bjørn Wiinblad. The piece is decorated with flowers in bright colors. It was made for Illums Bolighus, Denmark's first concept department store. 

Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006) was a Danish painter and designer celebrated for his imaginative pottery, theater settings, tapestries, and joyful designs, including candle holders and ceramics. Diverging from the minimalist Danish aesthetic, Wiinblad developed a unique style that has endeared him to those seeking to infuse magic into their daily lives. He was one of Denmark's most talented artists, and became world famous for his imaginative drawings and decorations filled with romantic girls, legendary figures, and wonderful patterns.

Wear: Please read notes about condition. This piece should serve as a decorative wall hanging only. Due to its age and delicate construction there is a dented portion missing in the middle part of the left-hand edge. Also, there are losses in the finish and paint fading. Minor retouching has been applied to several affected areas. Please refer to pictures.
