Vintage West African hand-carved and painted mask from the Guro peoples. The intricate carvings, fun vibrant colors, and unique design of this mask are just part of its detailed structure. The lower part has a taupe/brown female face with scarification marks, thin slit eyes, a smiling mouth with teeth, and a braided coiffure. The top of the mask has three people and one animal. In the front, there is a woman with a blue and white striped shawl, behind her is another one with a basket of grain atop her head, and the third is a man holding the reins of an animal.

This piece is a ceremonial mask made for ritual use. It is mounted on a custom acrylic base and would be perfect in a wide range of interior environments from an entry to a great room or study in a California Casual, Boho... Eclectic or Folk Art setting.
