Intricately Woven Snail Basket Measuring 6.5 Inches Tall and 6 Inches in Diameter with Dark Brown Patina from the Philippines

Antique Philippine 'Snail Basket' made of split bamboo. It is constructed of plaited bamboo with a base woven with strips that are twice as wide as those that comprise the walls. The bottom of the basket bulges due to the resilience of the bamboo. It is considered a ‘transitional’ example as it rises from a square base to a round mouth.

This piece is well maintained, has a rich dark mahogany brown patina, and would look great displayed on console table or bookshelf. We suggest leaving it empty so you can pick it up, look at it, and enjoy the weaver's talent. Purchased in the 1960s in the Philippines – and has been part of a designer’s collection.
