Intricately woven split bamboo basket used as a fish trap. It is consists of two different weaving patterns. The top and the base are made from a smaller bamboo fiber in a tight wickerwork pattern. The midsection is constructed using the same pattern but with larger pieces. The central part of the trap also consists of bamboo slats bound to a series of rattan hoops. The top is constructed from a wooden block joined to the basket with fiber rope and has a metal circular hook. There is a fish gate on the side made of a four inch by three-inch piece of dark plastic. The base has a wooden block that is removeable when the trap needed to be emptied.

There is wear that is consistent with its age on the underside around the lower opening. Due to its scarcity, unique shape, amazing dark brown colored patina and condition, this piece is perfect for a serious collector and will add interest to any décor. Use it in a residential or commercial setting as a basket for display or reimagine it as a light shade/pendant. Perfect in Japandi, Wabi Sabi, or Coastal Modern settings.
