Square Vintage Huop Lidded Square Covered Box from the Philippines Measuring 6.5 Inches Tall and 15.5 Inches Square

Antique Philippine Huop lidded square covered box. Tightly-covered basket/box made of bamboo and rattan. Initially used to hold cooked rice during the day. The lower section is made with the smooth skin of the bamboo on the inside – and the cover/lid features the skin on the outside. The piece has a lustrous patina in both caramel and dark brown. This would fit into most any décor from Warm Minimalism to Organic Modern, Japandi or Wabi Sabi.

Place of Origin: Ifugao, Luzon, Philippines 

Date of Manufacture: 1950s-1960s

Condition: Excellent
