Small handmade ceramic pot/vessel that has a lustrous glazed finish. Colors include the body with a whitish gray base coat with decorative highlights in dark blue, black, forest green and gray.

Piece is signed 'Otto' for Otto Heino (1915-2009). He was a Connecticut-born Sculptor who studied with the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in Concord, New Hampshire. Later both he and his wife Vivika taught at the University of Southern California (USC) and the Chouinard Art Institute.

Most of the Heino’s work is signed with both of their names, 'Vivika + Otto.' However, after his wife's death in 1995, and when working on his own, he signed only 'Otto.'

In 1978 Otto was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal at the 6th Biennial Invitational Ceramic Fair in Vallauris, France. His works are included in private and public collections around the world including: the Ariana Museum, Geneva, Switzerland; Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution, NYC, NY; Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), LA, CA; and the Museum of Art and Design, NYC, NY.
