9-pieces of hand-carved Mexican folk art. This is a grouping of well-preserved, decoratively-incised gourds and gourd rattles. Decorative images on the pieces include geometric patterns, flowers, and animals from armadillos and birds... to coyotes and rabbits. These are from the Mexican state of Tabasco in the southeast part of the country bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the north, the state of Campeche to the east, Guatemala to the southeast, and the states of Chiapas to the south and Veracruz to the west.
Pieces like these are hard to find because of their natural material and delicate construction. This grouping would be perfect for a Mexican Folk Art Collector or settings from Boho, Rustic... to Globally-Inspired or Coastal Modern.
Place of Origin: Tabasco, Mexico
