This piece is from the Ngombe People of the Democratic Republic of Congo who live in the region between the Congo and Ubangi Rivers. This tribal artifact is called a Ngulu, which is an asymmetrical sickle-type iron blade with a carved wooden handle. It is used as a symbol of prestige, a ceremonial dance accessory and currency; as well as, heavily decorated with many incisions in the metal covering the full length on both sides.
This is an impactful piece presented on a custom acrylic stand and would complement a variety of interiors from Traditional to Boho or Modern and a variety of spaces from a great room to a study or an office.
Note: Blade is sharp and the piece is detachable from acrylic stand. Display and handle with caution.
