Vintage, genuine heddle pulley carved by the Baule peoples of Ivory Coast. It is missing the central post and spindle used for spinning thread while weaving. It is of inverted 'U- shaped' form, has a worn hole on each side, and is surmounted by a portrait head supported by long neck with two rows of scarifications on both sides and backside of the neck. Additional characteristics include a linear coiffure, slit oval eyes, a long square nose and a small mouth. It has mottled dark brown patina due to age and use.
Perfect in a study or office on a bookshelf or side table in a range of décor styles from Boho, California Eclectic or Mid-Century Modern to Coastal or one having a Neutral Aesthetic.
