Intricately woven and colorful beer basket was made by a female weaver from the Hlabisa settlement in the uMkhanyakude District Municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.
This unique piece represents a 'Marriage Design' and is typically woven by the Bride or a member of her family as a gift from her to the Groom. This is a very detailed example with series of zig-zag patterns, diamonds and triangles - each with a representative meaning (see pictures). It also has an array of colors from a natural buff, brown and black to pink, burgundy and mustard.
This basket comes with a new circular acrylic base for display. Between its pattern and blend of colors, it would complement a variety of home décor environments from Boho, Eclectic, Southwestern to California Casual or Coastal Modern Design. Create your own collection – please look for other baskets that we offer.
