Vintage round Ilocano food tray/bowl. This piece is made of tightly woven split rattan in an intricate one-over-two twill pattern. The skin of the rattan is used on the inside to provide a smooth hard surface to contain the food with the outside of the vessel constructed of a looser woven wickerwork. The rim is composed of one piece of bamboo and the bottom has a circular rattan base for stability.

Excellent dark mahogany brown/ebony patina, collected in the Philippines during the 1960s, and acquired from a decorator’s personal collection. This basket would add interest to any décor setting from Japandi, Wabi Sabi or Organic Modern. It has solid construction and could be used either for decorative or storage purposes. It also could be displayed on a wall either as a singular piece or in a grouping.
