Intricately woven vintage Philippine basket. The weaver used two different techniques and materials for the construction. The top third which encompasses the mouth of the basket features fine detail and a tighter wickerwork pattern out of a smaller gauge bamboo. The bottom two thirds of the basket has thicker bamboo in a traditional wickerwork pattern. The top and bottom sections are punctuated by a single piece of bamboo to give the construction support. The base is slightly convex to assist with drainage and ultimately form the four points which will become the feet.
Due to the age, condition and fine construction, this basket should be used for decorative purposes only. Display on a shelf or side table so you can enjoy the intricate patterns and rich coffee color.
