Vintage 1950s Nahua pottery figure of a female wearing a dress with sleeves and a necklace. The front of her body has a bird's head and body (a dove) which the fingers are touching. The facial features are distinct: large eyes, eyebrows, protruding nose and an open mouth. She is wearing a high curved headdress and there are small spaced dots beneath the eyes. The ears and chin are seen with long hair on the back of the head.

The piece is hollow, made by a mother and son from the Nahua community in Guerrero, Mexico - and each is one-of-a-kind. The material is terracotta (clay) and is hand painted on every side in black and orange-red on a dark buff background. It would make a great accent in a range of décor styles from Southwestern, California Casual... to Boho or Coastal Modern Design.

Please reference our other items in this collection as there are different unique designs/styles and all would be perfect as either a stand-alone piece of art or part of a larger grouping.
