The creation of pottery in Metepec maintains many of its traditional techniques which are passed down in pottery-making families known for distinctive design, ornamentation and manufacture.
This five piece 'Día de los Muertos' Mariachi Band (Calavera Band) is from Metepec. The set is in pristine condition and was collected in Mexico during the 1960s. The musicians (each over 1 foot tall) include two trumpet/horn players, one with a Mexican vihuela/guitar, another with a guitarrón/bass guitar and the last with a violin.
This ensemble would be the jewel of any folk art collection.
