Vintage Hausa Multi-Colored Basket from Nigeria - 10.25" Diam. X 6" H

Traditional weaving techniques were used to make this basket from the Hausa peoples. This coiled basket is made from various types of grasses and is constructed with a smooth exterior with the interior being rougher in finish. This piece has a buff-colored background that also includes vivid, well-defined geometric 'color blocked' design patterns in black, red and green. It is sturdy and can double as both a small functional storage piece or a decorative art object. Perfect for Southwestern, Boho... to Mid-Century or Coastal Modern settings.
