Antique Chinese Red Lion/Foo Dog Porcelain Shard Box - 3" L X 3" W X 1.75" H

Handcrafted jewelry/trinket box constructed from a fragment/shard of antique Chinese red and white porcelain featuring a Red Lion/Foo Dog. It has been mounted on an oblong shaped decorative silver plated box with a lid and a base. The sides of the tooled metal box are textured with a repeating geometric design featuring flowers. 

During the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) keeping antique porcelain at home was regarded as illegal, so many people broke their porcelain pieces and threw them away. Shard boxes are made from broken pieces of porcelain that were collected after this time period. 

Each piece is unique and would be perfect on a side table or night stand in a variety of interiors from Traditional, Chinoiserie, Eclectic... to Maximalist or Grandmillenial.
