Hand-carved comb featuring a man between two women from the Ashanti people of Ghana. Combs are not just functional items and can be used in religious ceremonies or as part of divination practices. In addition, intricate carvings like this also symbolize fertility or status.
This piece comes with a new custom black metal stand that has a black acrylic base. It is in excellent vintage condition considering age and wear and would be suitable to stand alone or be part of a larger collection with other West African wooden carvings. Display in a study or office on a bookshelf or side table in any décor from Boho, Globally-Inspired, Coastal Modern... to Japandi or Wabi Sabi.
