Traditional Ashanti stool from Ghana that was carved from a single piece of wood. These are architectural in nature with a crescent-shaped seat, a flat base and intricately carved support structures that have symbolic meanings. The design of this stool is known as the "Ahema Dwa," symbolizing it was crafted for a Queen Mother with a barrel shaped carving serving as the central support. This example has amazing patina, is structurally sound and would complement most any décor as a low stand or ornamental base. Use it in a Mid-Century, Organic Inspired, Japandi or Wabi Sabi environment.
