Male Baule colonial figure or colon statue. This hand-carved painted wooden piece depicts a businessman with a white hat, blue suit coat, white dress shirt, green tie and yellow pants holding a black briefcase. This figure is carved in a naive, folk art style and does not have ritual significance. Rather, it is an artistic response to the colonization and European influence in West Africa.
