Female Baule colonial figure or colon statue. This hand-carved painted wooden piece depicts a female with a white hat, vibrant multi-colored yellow, green and red blouse, white pants, a decorative belt and a black purse. This figure is carved in a naive, folk art style and does not have ritual significance. Rather, it is an artistic response to the colonization and European influence in West Africa.
