Bioma Spirit Figure from Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Base - 23" H X 6" W

Well-carved Bioma spirit figure in bark. It has deep carvings with arms away from the body, hands on hips, a long arrowhead nose, round protruding eyes, a minimalist mouth, and linear designs on its body.

Bioma figures are found along the southeast coast of Papua New Guinea and are the embodiment of the “Imunu” which are the powerful spirits who inhabit a particular region and are kept in village shrines throughout the region. This interesting and expressive piece has a very uniform weathered surface and is mounted on a custom metal and acrylic stand.   

It is free-standing and would make for an impactful sculpture on a console table in a great room or entry or on an art stand in a hallway. The muted earth tone colors would also complement a wide range of interiors from Mid-Century, California Casual... to Organic Inspired or Coastal Modern Design.

Condition: Excellent

Wear: Repair on feet/ankles which is consistent with age and use. Piece has been professionally mounted on acrylic stand. Please refer to pictures.
