Bobo Nuna/Bwa Crocodile Mask from Burkina Faso. A crocodile is related to the water spirit who represents fertility and prosperity. This large mask is unique as it is carved out of a single piece of wood with a body covered in white pattern detail, a long tail, legs – and protruding snout with large, carved teeth.
Animal-shaped masks are among the primary sculpted art forms from the people of Burkina Faso. Characteristics include terracotta and white colored geometric designs – and numerous checkered, chevron, triangular and circular motifs along with round eyes with square-shaped protruding mouths.
This is a statement piece for a residential, commercial or hospitality setting and would lend interest to a variety of decor styles ranging from Industrial/Loft, Tropical, to Eclectic or Boho.
