Hand-Carved Cambodian Pink Sandstone Head of Brahma - 6.5" H X 4" W X 4" D

Khmer hand-carved pink sandstone head of the Hindu god Brahma.  This contemporary example has intricate detailing with four carved faces representing the sacred knowledge of the four Vedas (Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva). Each head is pointed in a different cardinal direction and have large headdresses incised with a lotus flower at the top. The carving rests on a smooth square base also from the same pink sandstone.

This piece was created in conjunction with Artisans d' Angkor, a Cambodian organization originally created to revive traditional Khmer artisan skills while helping young rural people find work near their home village. Perfect in a variety of interior settings from Boho... to Asian-Inspired or Zen.
