Netsuke carvings from Japan were originally carved to be simple fasteners on the cords of Inro boxes (the traditional case for holding small objects attached at the waist on the sash when wearing a kimono). These netsuke carvings evolved into displays of craftsmanship, art, and status.
This is a Chinese hand-carved sphere of boxwood in the style of Netsuke, covered in intertwined horses. This signed, vintage piece is presented on a new acrylic stand and would be great alone or in a grouped collection. It is perfect in a variety of interior settings from Traditional, Chinoiserie, Zen... to Boho or Mid-Century.
