Male wooden carving attributed to the Yaka People of the Congo. This figure is a typical representation being it is standing, has both hands clutched next to the chest and is wearing headgear similar to that of their leaders. Such figures also functioned to protect against witches or other enemies in the community.
This piece has a smooth dark brown patina and comes with a black wooden base. It would be suitable to stand alone or be part of a larger collection with other West African wooden carvings. Display in a study or office on a bookshelf or side table in any décor.
