Philippine Bogohan Basket

Vintage Philippine 'Bogahan' rattan storage basket/jar made of split rattan and bamboo with one-over-two construction. Notice the artistry of the basket as the weaving changes directions four different times from the base to the top along with the varied thickness of the strips used. The base and the neck of the piece are made of split bamboo and the overall piece has a rustic dark brown/black matte colored patina.   

Place of Origin: Ifugao, Luzon, Philippines

Date of Manufacture: 1960s

Condition: Good

Wear: Consistent with age and use. Chip on rim of bamboo neck and two patches with lighter coloration. Basket is of solid construction. Please refer to pictures.
