The Ortega family are master figural ceramists with a style of their own including brightly colored animals whether they be dragons, bulls, donkeys, pigs, dogs, cats or roosters.
This ceramic folk art dragon features vibrant hues of yellow, blue, red, and turquoise. It is designed to be wall-mounted with two metal loops. One could use it in a kitchen, bedroom or mudroom for storage of keys or a light pet leash being that it has four metal hooks built into the body of the piece. Signed 'Ortega' on backside.
Ortega family members create these fun and colorful figures of clay and follow their grandmother in the traditional Barro Betus technique. It would be a fun addition to interior settings from Folk Art, Southwestern, Mexican to Boho.
