Intricately woven large round "labba" grain basket. This piece is constructed of wickerwork that transitions from a square foot in the center of the base to a round rim. Additional warp pieces were tapered and inserted by the weaver to achieve the symmetrical round shape. Oftentimes this large grain basket would be carried on the head.
A sturdy basket that could be used as a storage vessel or mounted on the wall to enjoy the different weaving techniques on the interior side. Its size and dark patina would lend visual and sculptural interest to a variety of residential or commercial spaces from Rustic, Coastal... to Japandi, Organic Modern or Wabi Sabi.
