Large square "ligao" winnowing tray used as an agricultural method for separating grain from chaff. This shallow basket tray was used to throw grain into the air and catch it while the lighter chaff blows away. Constructed of heavy split rattan in a one-over-two twill construction. The skin of the rattan is used on the inside of the tray to provide a smooth, hard surface.
Notice product picture close-ups of left and right sides of back of tray where handling from use has created a worn patina. This basket would add interest to any décor whether residential, commercial or hospitality from Coastal, Rustic... to Wabi Sabi or Japandi. It would look great whether on a table or displayed on a wall in a grouping.
