The creation of pottery in Metepec maintains many of its traditional techniques which are passed down in pottery-making families known for distinctive design, ornamentation and manufacture.
'Hell/Infierno/Purgatory' scene from Metepec, Mexico, with brightly painted details and 3 ghost-like figures/fantasmas, 7 men/hombres, 3 women/mujeres, and 14 flames/las llamas. This piece is in very good condition and was collected in Mexico during the 1960s. It would be perfect in any Mexican Folk Art collection.
Place of Origin: Metepec, Mexico
Date of Manufacture: 1950s-1960s
Condition: Very Good
Wear: Several small repairs have been made with light paint retouching. This piece was originally painted with aniline dye colors and should not be displayed near direct sunlight to avoid further fading. Please refer to pictures.
