Hand-molded, hand-painted vintage Nativity Devil (Nacimiento Diablo) from Tlaquepaque. This unique figurine has a brilliant red glaze from industrial gloss paint. It was originally intended for inclusion in nativity scenes to illustrate the deadly sins. Devils hold various things such as musical instruments and tridents. This example represents the seventh deadly sin of Pride. Unsigned, artist unknown.
Pieces of this age, in this shape and condition are hard-to-find and would make a great addition to a collection of Folk Art, Religious Art or Mexican Art.
