Vintage Philippine Huop Covered Food Basket - 6.5" H X 15.5" Square

Vintage 1960s Philippine "Huop" lidded square covered box. It is a tightly-covered basket/box made of bamboo and rattan that was initially used to hold cooked rice during the day. The lower section is made with the smooth skin of the bamboo on the inside – and the cover/lid features the skin on the outside. The piece has a lustrous patina in both caramel and dark brown. This would fit into most any décor from Warm Minimalism, Organic Modern... to Japandi or Wabi Sabi.

Place of Origin: Ifugao, Luzon, Philippines 

Date of Manufacture: 1950s-1960s

Condition: Excellent
