Painted pottery sculpture of a traditional bull. This small piece is a representation of art that has a high spiritual and protective value – and is present in ceremonies that include fertility, protection of livestock, harvest and other aspects of daily life.
Being that is a vintage piece, it is made in the style of a traditional Pucará bull, not overly colored – and the use of clay confers its natural tone with only hand-painted ornamentation. Made by the Quechua people who live in the Lampa Province in the Puno Region of Peru.
Acquired in Peru during the 1960s - this is an antique, hard-to-find piece that was acquired from a personal collection. Would be at home in a neutral palette whether Coastal Modern, California Casual, Southwestern or Folk Art-Inspired. Create a collection - please see our other vintage Peruvian pottery pieces.
