Vintage Yaore Mask from Ivory Coast - 22.5" H X 8.25" W X 3.5" D

Beautifully carved mask in the style of Yaore. It has delicate horns arching out of the center of the head, fine triangles lining the entire upper portion along edges of horns and forming a layered linear pattern for the coiffure. Additional features include protruding ears, a large forehead, heavy lidded eyes, a long slender nose, a small slightly open mouth, and a serrated beard descending from the bottom of the ears and terminating at the chin. The entire chip carved portion, along with the crevasse around the eyes, nose and mouth have white kaolin accents. Overall, the mask has a fine glossy and varied brown to dark brown patina and is mounted on a custom stand.  

An exceptional work of vintage carving from the Ivory Coast that would be perfect in a wide range of interior environments from an entry to a great room or a study in a Coastal Modern, California Casual, Boho or Organic-Inspired setting.
